We had a failed sump pump and they are able to arrange people to examine and replace it on that day. The technician is professional and gave us options for sump pump rather than just push you to purchase the expensive one. Such a great company!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Last Saturday afternoon noticed water backing up in my basement. After calling several companies Mr. Rooter Plumbing was the only company to answer and respond. The plumber was at my home within a couple hours, Mike D. was professional and very helpful in determining the corrective action. Mike D. explained what needed to be done and the cost plus what the next steps would be. He was quick and efficient. After using the camera and determining Hydo flash was needed he called Diego who came within 20 minutes with the machine and they both completed the job. Excellent customer service and quick service!

Frequently Asked Questions About Plumbing in Highland Park, Michigan

Contact Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Highland Park, Michigan today for more information on our comprehensive range of plumbing services in your area. Should you require further information about Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Highland Park, Michigan and our offerings, check out our frequently asked questions.

  • Worn-out valve seats and washers can be among the most common causes of leaky faucets, generally because they can succumb to wear and tear with frequent loosening and tightening. While high water pressure can be desirable, it can also be the cause of dripping faucets, so contact a plumber to test the pressure and adjust it if required. If you live somewhere with hard water, explore the possibility of rust and corrosion being to blame for a dripping faucet since minerals and solids can form a residue on your faucet over time and cause rust to form. Not everyone knows how to fix a dripping faucet, so call a plumbing service provider in your area to take care of it for you.

  • Low water pressure can sometimes be caused by the water shutoff valves to your property not being completely open — often left closed from maintenance or inspections. Contact a plumbing service provider for help when you notice low water pressure since it can sometimes be caused by a blockage or clog in your pipes, which can require experience and special tools to fix. Talk to a trusted expert about repairing or replacing your water pressure regulator since a faulty one can cause abrupt water pressure changes from high to low or vice versa. If your water pressure woes are combined with strange wet patches in your yard, talk to your local plumber about the possibility of a broken pipe on your property being to blame.

  • Contact a licensed and insured service professional to solve plumbing woes like slow-draining sinks when you aren’t sure how to fix them. Try pouring baking soda and vinegar down your slow-draining sink to try to clear it since these ingredients can sometimes help combat grease and soap scum blockages. If you’re dealing with a tough blockage slowing down your sink, use a plumbing snake that you can insert deep into the drain, twist, and extract any debris. P-traps underneath sinks can become filled with debris and contribute to a slow-draining sink, but you or your local plumber can easily clean them out.

  • Simple plumbing maintenance tasks like cleaning your drains and flushing your water heater can help prevent future costly and messy plumbing leaks. Keeping your pipes leak-free, damage-free, and in good condition requires avoiding the disposal of damaging items down your drains, such as eggshells, grease, and wipes. If your property has high water pressure, explore remedies like pressure regulators or regular pressure checks since consistently high water pressure cah cause plumbing leaks. If you have exposed pipes on your property and live somewhere cold, you may prevent winter-related plumbing leaks by insulating and covering your pipes.

  • Rather than diagnose and remedy an awful-smelling sink in your property yourself, contact a plumbing service provider and have them take care of the problem on your behalf. An unpleasant smell emanating from your sink can indicate a blockage or clog, as bacteria often gather there, breed, and produce awful odors that linger in your home. It’s not uncommon to notice unpleasant sewage-like smells around sinks that aren’t used very often because the P-traps can dry out and let sewer gases seep into your house. If you own a garbage disposal, inspect it as a cause of foul odors, as they can arise from mold, bacteria, decomposing food, and sewer gases.

  • If you only have a small water heater, the number of property occupants and your hot water demands may mean you’ve run out of hot water. Check your water heater’s thermostat to make sure it’s at a high enough temperature to produce adequate hot water — but it should be no higher than 120 degrees F. Older water heaters can stop producing adequate hot water for a range of reasons, like broken thermostats, gas valves, and heating elements, which may require replacement. Failure to identify why you have minimal hot water from your water heater means it’s time to call a plumber in your area to diagnose the problem.

  • Your water bill could be high because you have a pipe, faucet, or fixture that’s leaking and needs to be repaired by a licensed and insured plumber. If you use outdoor irrigation systems, you can notice an unusually high water bill if you haven’t adjusted your system’s settings to avoid runoff and excessive consumption. Pay close attention to how old, efficient, and operational your water-using appliances are, like ice makers, dishwashers, and water heaters, since they contribute to water bills. Since leaky toilet tanks can waste as much as 80,000 gallons of water yearly, inspect it for signs of a leak causing your water bill to be high.

  • ·Turn off water and power: A burst pipe in a building can sometimes be a safety hazard, so turn off your water and power if it’s safe to do so to protect everyone in the area. Contact a trusted plumbing service provider: Outsource the repair or replacement of your burst pipe to a trusted plumbing service provider since they typically have the most experience and skills. Clean up excess water: When the immediate chaos of your burst pipe has passed, reach for a bucket, mop, and towels to start your cleanup efforts — unless sewage is present. Document any damage: If you intend to claim insurance for a burst pipe, don’t forget to document all the damage with a detailed list of your losses, videos, and photos.

  • See if you have a malfunctioning chain or flapper that could cause your toilet running after flushing and not holding water, as these two components can fail as they get older. Inspect your toilet’s float to listen for any water inside; a waterlogged float can sit at a lower level than your toilet requires, and you need to replace it. Broken fill valves can start to inconsistently shut off the water supply to your toilet or stop doing it altogether, which means you need to replace this part. When you don’t feel confident to diagnose and repair your own toilet after it won’t stop running, call a local plumber for help.

  • Turning off the water supply to your home is as straightforward as finding the water valve inside your house, if you have one, and turning it clockwise. Arm yourself with a pentagon socket wrench and look for an underground water meter box on your property — these have security bolts to undo with a wrench before you can turn off your water supply. As soon as you need to turn your home’s water supply off, ensure you have access to a meter key or a pair of pliers in case they’re needed to open your meter box. When you need to turn off the water to your house but can’t find your water supply valve, contact a plumber in your area to help.
