The idea of digging up your lawn or driveway to repair your sewer pipes may seem daunting, especially if you spent a lot of time and money on landscaping. But there may be another way. At Mr. Rooter®, we offer sewer repair without digging in Norfolk, and if your pipes are a good fit, it could be a low-hassle way to get the repairs you need.
Do You Need to Dig to Repair Sewer Pipes?
Traditionally, repairing sewer pipes meant digging trenches, ripping out the lines, and installing new ones. These methods are still used, and they could be the best option, but it’s no longer the only way to repair your sewer pipes.
No-Dig Sewer Repair Methods
If you suspect that you need sewer line repair, we will first conduct a thorough inspection to diagnose the issue. If we can fix your issue without any major repairs (such as with hydro jetting to clear away blockages, tree roots, and debris), we will. But if we find serious structural damage, we can recommend no-dig sewer repair methods
These methods require little to no digging. We don’t need to rip up your landscaping and won’t leave you with a substantial mess to clean up.
Cured-in-Place Pipe Lining (CIPP)
CIPP works by inserting a flexible liner into your existing sewer pipes. The liner is coated in epoxy resin, and once inside, it is inflated. It presses against the inside of your pipes, after which it is cured to harden it
CIPP essentially creates a new pipe within your old one. We don’t need to dig trenches, as we won’t be ripping out your pipes. As long as we have an easy access point, we won’t need to dig at all. If not, we’ll find a solution that minimizes disruption.
Pipe Bursting
Pipe bursting methods use two access points. Technicians will place a bursting head into the pipe via one access point and then drag it through the old pipe. As it moves, the new pipe breaks up the old one, forcing the broken fragments into the surrounding soil, and laying a new pipe in place of the old one.
When You May Need Sewer Repair Excavation
We can recommend sewer pipe lining in Norfolk for most homeowners. It’s an effective way to fix corroded, cracked, or leaking pipes. However, if the pipes have collapsed or sagged, trenchless methods likely won’t work.
For example, if your pipes are sagging, pipe lining will just follow the same course and mirror the sag. If your pipes are severely misaligned, we may need to dig a trench to adjust for the misalignment and reset your pipes.
There are still options, though, as we can also resort to traditional excavation methods.
Our technicians will assess the condition of your pipes during the initial inspection, highlighting potential issues and then recommending the best repair method. We also use hydro jetting to clean your pipes before installing new pipe lining and will then inspect them using a sewer camera after installation to make sure they are functioning properly.
